9-year old Texas boy brings gun and ammo to school

A 9-year old boy in Nederland, Texas, brought a semi-auto pistol and ammo to school in his backpack, which he got out of his mother's night stand, in order to "teach his friend to shoot."

From an article:

Teachers at Hillcrest Elementary became suspicious of the nine-year-old who kept checking his backpack, Asst. Chief with Nederland Police Gary Porter said.
When one of the teachers searched the backpack at around 3 p.m., she found an unloaded Taurus 380 semi-automatic pistol and a gun case with bullets in it, Porter said.
The student told authorities he took the gun from his mother's night stand and brought it to school to teach his friend how to shoot, Porter said.
The student was disciplined according to the state and school district guidelines, Superintendent of the school district Robert E. Madding said.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
